Radios
Welcome to i-radios.com. In the world today, technology is fast becoming a necessity rather than luxury. The term radio can either reference the device that is used to listen to a broadcast, or the actual broadcast itself. Since the beginning of the radio device, it has been widely used and is becoming ever so popular with its growing technological advances. The radio wave was first discovered in the early 18th century and has made huge strides in its development since then. This type of wave is used solely for communication purposes; its wavelength is much longer than visible light. These waves can be as short as a millimeter or kilometers long making it possible for long distance communication through a phone or car radio. These waves are sent to different satellites, which then transmit them to portable devices.
CB radios are widely used in the trucking industry. They are used as a method of communication between drivers to exchange information regarding different topics. While many CB’s have limited signal range, drivers can only talk to each other for brief periods of time if driving in opposite directions. Drivers use these radios as a way to communicate speed traps, accidents, weather hazards, among other topics as a common courtesy. There is special lingo that truckers use to communicate on a CB that one would need to be aware of to understand, for example, a bearmobile is the term used for a police car.
AM and FM tuner stations used to be the only way to receive radio signals on a long drive; however, Sirius satellite radio is often the option of choice. Cassette tapes and CD’s are almost a thing of the past. Even though satellite radio may charge a monthly fee for use, it offers music as well as, talk radio, sports, and entertainment stations from coast to coast locations. Many vehicles come with this option installed; however, it can be an aftermarket upgrade as well. Satellite radio is much like an MP3 player. Both of these forms of audio entertainment allow its users to have entertainment wherever they may find themselves. Whether it is in the car, at home, or at the gym, portable electronic devices bring the entertainment to their listeners. Other digital devices, like a clock radio, allow people to receive the benefits associated with radio wave transmission as well.
The discovery and invention of the radio and its signal transmission has forever changed the way that the world communicates. While technology is always advancing into the latest and greatest audio gadget, the use of radio waves will long be their underlying source of power. Many people feared that the Internet and videos would devastate the use of the radio; however, it is still going strong. People still use their car radio, as well as, clock and portable radios daily despite the more modern inventions. These items seem to be staples in many people’s routines; they wake up to the radio, shower to the radio, and drive to the radio as well.
Most of todays modern music is digitalized. Digital pianos can be found online or at a piano store. Custom guitars and other musical instruments also have digital effects. Sheet music can also be found at either of these locations, though, older sheet music is most often found online.
